The Only Bloody Mary You'll Ever Need
You could say that sometimes a Bloody Mary is a meal in itself. I definitely would not disagree. The savory cold tomato mixture with a little bit of spice plus all of the endless garnishes can make me full even before I get a chance to eat the main meal and honestly, there is nothing wrong with that. This cocktail is essentially a salad in a glass, plus snacking on all of the garnishes and toppings is one of the best parts!
When it comes to brunch beverages, it can be so hard to choose between a crisp rose, some bubbly or a savory bloody mary. But, I almost always pick the bloody because it really is a necessity. You might have skipped breakfast and it is almost lunchtime plus you are probably both hungry and thirsty, so it only makes sense.
Now, let's talk garnishes and toppings. They can be endless! That is one of my absolute favorite things about this cocktail. You have the freedom to get creative when making your masterpiece, especially when you are at home. Some suggested toppings can include:
Pickles Spears or Pickle Chips
.....I could go on forever! As you can see you are able to add as many or as little garnishes as you would like to get your cocktail just right. See the recipe below and If you make this, let me know, I would love to see your Bloody Mary Masterpiece! Happy Bartending!
This recipes serves 1, however you are able to double, triple or even quadruple the recipe to make ahead in a large batch if needed as well. If you are making large batches ahead of time, it will stay good for one week and leave the vodka out until you are ready to serve.
I would recommend having a variety of skewer sizes and toothpicks on hand for all of the fun garnishes. It will help present better and maximize load-ability.
For the rim garnish you will need one small plate of water and one small plate of the seasoning.
1 cup plain tomato juice OR bloody mary mix of choice
1/2 TSP minced garlic
A few dashes of tabasco sauce OR chipotle cholula (this will give it a little bit of a smoky flavor - definetely recommend)
1 TSP worcestershire sauce
Juice of half a lemon
1 TBSP pickle juice
1/4 TSP black pepper
1/4 TSP celery salt
Chili Lime seasoning blend
2-3 Shots of Vodka (depending on how strong you want your cocktail to be)
Place all ingredients in a shaker or glass and stir to mix well (do not shake). If you are making in a large batch, place in something big enough to mix where it will not spill.
Take a glass, turn it over and dip it in the water, then immediately dip it in the chili lime seasoning and turn back over. Carefully, fill the glass with ice.
Pour cocktail mixture over ice and begin garnishing.
PRETTY PLATE PRESENTATION INSTRUCTIONS:
I like to start with the items that do not necessarily go on a skewer. The items you can push to the back and stand up straight or can sit on the rim. So, start with items such as bacon, celery stalks, pickle spears or pepperoni sticks. Place them directly in the glass and place them upright, so they stand nice and tall. I did bacon first, then celery stalk in front with some pretty leaves attached.
Add the lemon wheel and lime wedge to the rim. If you are using the cooked shrimp (not pictured) I would add this to the rim in front of the lemon wheel.
Skewer some of your smaller favorite items such as cheese cubes, olives, peppers, asparagus, artichokes, pickle chips, etc. Lay the skewer across the glass in front of the items standing up. You can also rest it on the rim and have some of those items dipped in the cocktail to provide some extra flavor.
Sit back, relax and sip pretty
