Fully Loaded Air Fryer Kimchi Fries

Sometimes Fully Loaded Kimchi Fries are completely necessary to have in your life. This Fully Loaded Kimchi Fries recipe is the ultimate comfort food dish that allows you to still be healthyish! What more could you want!? You get the best of both worlds. These are almost like nachos, but better! Because let’s be real, I would take fries over chips anyday.

I might be biased, but I swear that kimchi makes everything better. There is nothing that kimchi doesn’t go with. It’s perfect in ramens, rice and even fries! If you haven’t checked out my Kimchi Fried Rice recipe, make sure to do so. I love the tangy fermented taste it provides to dishes. It’s so unique and just makes certain dishes hit differently in the best way.

When it comes to this kimchi dish, there are 3 key components to what makes this recipe so good: First key component that makes this recipe great are the homemade air fryer fries. I love making my own fries at home. Plus, air frying them without all of the extra oils is so much better! Making these at home is well worth it and much easier than you might think.

The next key component on what makes them so tasty is the homemade vegan cheese sauce. It’s vibrant, flavorful and has that melted cheesy texture. You would never know that it is vegan!

The third component is the toppings: furikake seasoning, green onions and red chilies. Each one is unique in it’s own way and brings so much joy to the dish. The furikake seasoning brings that sesame seaweed flavor, the green onions provide that herby taste and the red chilies give it that kick every so often. They are the perfect trio that make this dish complete. Since each item gets sprinkled throughout, you get subtle hints so each one isn’t over bearing and you get the perfect combination with each bite.

Now, if you are in need of a late night snack, craving healthyish comfort foods, looking for a side dish at your party or it’s game day, you best be resorting to these. They are perfect for all and any occasions.

Ingredients

For the Fully Loaded Air Fryer Kimchi Fries:

  • 2 Russet potatoes, cut in french fries
  • 2 TBSP safflower oil
  • ½ TSP black pepper
  • 1 TSP salt
  • 1 TBSP garlic powder
  • 1 TSP dried parsley
  • ½ Cup Kimchi, chopped (or more to your liking)
  • Dairy free queso (recipe to follow below) or queso of your choice
  • Seaweed or furikake seasoning
  • Red thai chilies, sliced
  • Green onion, white and green parts, sliced

For the Dairy Free Queso:

  • 2 Cups So Delicious dairy free cheddar cheese
  • ½ Cup full oat oat milk
  • ½ TBSP nutritional yeast
  • ¼ TSP salt
  • Pinch of Cumin
  • Pinch of chili powder
Instructions
  1. Peel your potatoes, once peeled, wash and pat dry.
  2. Slice both ends off of a potato. Then, turn the potato, lengthwise, cut one thin end off so you have a flat surface.
  3. Flip the potato on the flat surface side and begin slicing lengthwise. Lay each slice on it on its side and slice into french fry sticks. Continue this process with your remaining two potatoes.
  4. Place all french fry sticks into a large bowl. Add all remaining ingredients: 2 TBSP olive oil, garlic powder, black pepper, salt and dried parsley. Mix well.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees. Once done, add as many french fries as you can without overcrowding. Air fry at 380 degrees for 30 minutes, turning them over at the halfway point. NOTE: When there are about 3 minutes left, shake and turn them again, I would suggest maybe on their sides so all parts get evenly cooked.
  6. While your fries are cooking, make the queso sauce. Heat a pot over medium heat and add your cheese. Continue to stir until the cheese has melted. Once melted whisk in your milk, nutritional yeast, salt, cumin and chili powder. Stir until well combined. When done, remove from heat and let cool down.
  7. Slice your green onion, set aside. Chop your kimchi, set aside.
  8. When fries are done, get ready to construct. Place them on your serving platter of choice. Pour over your queso cheese, top with chopped kimchi and garnish with green onions,  furikake seasoning and sesame seeds.
  9. ENJOY!

Can I do this in a slow cooker instead of the oven?
