Parmesan Panko Crusted Tilapia

Is there anything better than throwing a home cooked meal together in 30 minutes or less after a long day? I think not. This easy tilapia dish is going to be one of your newest go to’s. They are made with 5 easy ingredients: grated parmesan, panko crumbs, black pepper, fresh parsley and lemon zest. The coating on the outside is crisped to golden crunchy perfection and the inside is extra flaky which creates the ultimate texture combination.

The secret to getting the perfect crispy golden coating:

  • You want to make sure to cover every inch of the fish with the parmesan coating including the: top, all sides and in the crevices.
  • When coating you want to gently press the coating into the fish so it sticks well. Pressing all areas so the fish is well coated.
  • After baking, make sure to switch to broil on high. Switching your oven to broil will ensure a perfectly crispy golden coating on the top.
  • When on the broil mode, make sure to carefully watch the filets to ensure they do not burn. Also, you might need to turn your pan every so often if needed to make sure all sides are evenly crisp and golden.

For those that haven’t tried tilapia before or aren’t sure they love seafood in general, tilapia is a great protein and type of fish to start with. It is a milder flaky fish and doesn’t possess that “fishy” smell that tends to turn people off. It isn’t the sexiest of fish, but it is one of the most versatile of fishes. It can be baked, grilled, added to stews, made in tacos or even turn it into a burger! Explore my other Tilapia recipes here: https://www.prettyplate.net/search?query=Tilapia

What do I serve with this main dish?

This can be served with anything your little heart desires! I love serving it with white rice and steamed broccoli for a well rounded, healthy meal. But, you can serve them with fries, pasta, salad or any other vegetables of your choosing.
