Pretty Plate Reindeer Chow

I am pretty sure that if you were to look up the word “addictive“ in the dictionary this Pretty Plate Reindeer Chow would be apart of the definition.Once you try it, it will be the only treat you will want for Christmas. It is the perfect snack for yourself or gift to others.

If you don‘t want to or don’t have time to make homemade Christmas cookies this year, wash all of those worries away because this recipe is for you! All you need to do is just make sure to add this to your list and be prepared to possibly make a batch or two, or even three of this Pretty Plate Reindeer Chow. And I say an extra two or three batches because you need one for yourself, one for Santa and one for the reindeers of course! This is an easy recipe and it doesn’t involve Christmas cookies, however, it does taste like a mix of them. I can guarantee that kids and adults of all ages will love this!

Growing up I ate puppy chow aka muddy buddies more than I would like to admit. I was an active gymnast and in between practices and competitions sometimes I would catch myself snacking on it. It was always one of those things that GymnasticsMom’s brought as a small little treat especially on those Pasta Party nights. And now looking back, I know why they always had it on hand: it is easy to make and extremely delicious.

While,I can’t call puppy chow my own recipe as this has been a staple that everyone has known and grown to love over the years (kudos to the actual person who created this), I did create this Reindeer chow with a few of my favorite things that I think all of you will love! I wanted to incorporate a mix of one of everyone’s favorite staple (puppy chow) with sugar cookie flavors and savorysalty buttery flavors as well. This way you get a little bit of everything and mixing and matching is so fun!

What makes this so good? Great question! Well let’s start by talking about how the warm chocolatey peanut buttery mixture seeps into every single chex cereal piece and then, how the powdered sugar somehow makes it way through every nook and cranny as well, so every puppy chow piece gets perfectly coated. Plus, ontop of all of that goodness, you mix in: squishy mini marshmallows, crispy sugar cookie M&M’s, buttery salty pretzel balls, soft funfetti chips, crunchy coconut macaroon almonds and tender dark chocolate raisinets.

I also have to admit that the larger puppy chow chunks that get stuck together like glue by too much chocolatey peanut buttery powdery sugar goodness are like gold. I intentionally pick through the mix to claim those before they are gone.I can’t be the only one that does this, can I!?

So, with all of this being said, make your list and check it twice, you‘re going to want to make sure you have all these ingredients by Christmas night because Santa Claus is coming to town!

  • 19 Oz bag tollhouse funfetti chips
  • 2 Cup Snyder’s pretzel round balls (from mariano’s)

For the Puppy Chow:

  5. Once chocolate and powdered sugar has settled on the chex cereal. Measure out 5 cup of puppy chow and place in a large bowl. Add: 1 8 oz bag raisinets, 1 7.4 oz bag of sugar cookie m&m’s,1 10 oz tin coconut Macaroon almonds, 1 cup marshmallows, 1 9 oz bag funfetti chips and 2 cup pretzel round balls.
